Introduction

BB Photonics B.V. is a design house for application-specific photonic integrated circuits (ASPICs).

ASPICs are "chips working with light" that deliver innovative solutions for applications in fields like

• Sensors
• Medical applications

We employ a semiconductor technology (InGaAsP on InP) offering chips that generate, process and detect light at wavelengths optimized for use with standard optical fiber as optical carrier. A single chip in this technology may contain optical components like lasers, filters, multiplexers, switches, detectors and modulators, unlike other technologies. Photonic chips can help you lower energy consumption, increase stability and speed and reduce footprint for overall more cost efficient products.

Our goal is to bring these ASPICs into reach of small and medium sized companies and institutions by translating ideas and desired functionality into an integrated circuit design. BB Photonics is a partner in a strong European consortium that encompasses all know-how and infrastructure necessary for developing ASPICs.
